So I’m sure you are all dying for some info about the banquet coming up on Saturday 4/14/2012. Well We’ve had a great week so far. This year is

ASU’s 33rd Annual Spring Conference!!!!

60k Day

So it’s been a while guys, missed me?

Well have no fear, us at ASU are not done putting on events just yet. We hope that everyone had a great time at Winter Gala, and if you are looking for those glam mug shots from the night be sure to check out our facebook page or check out EKG Photography. On that note we like to give a special thanks to Kevin Gam of EKG Photography for patiently making us all look amazing at the photobooth. Seriously guys, if any of you have events and need a photographer, they are the people to go to!!

Also a special thanks to the companies that came to our FIRST EVER casual career fair event. We hope it got the ball rolling on many future careers.

 On that note, let’s get talking about the events that are going on with ASU for the rest of the semester. Be sure to check out calendar as we will be updating it, along with the facebook page. Most people think that the Holidays are the season to give. Well us ASU-ers know that when it comes to giving, ‘tis always the season  

On April 12, the University of Minnesota community will raise $60,000 for a Habitat home. You have the ability to be a part of it too. Visit Asian-American Student Union (ASU) and buy food, or donate your loose change for a great cause!!

This is such a good cause, and we know that all of us are poor college students with lots of loans, but we also know that:

a)everyone loves cheap candy and drinks from their favorite organization

b)everyone has loose change that they let accumulate without using ;P

So weather you are hungry and want a cheap snack, or just want to unload some pennies, we are more than happy to receive and will greatly appreciate it!!!!

Don’t forget we have High Tea in the ASU room (Coffman Memorial Union rm219) every other Friday, so we hope to see you there!!

This means:

-no kicks, tennis shoes, lace ups, sneakers work boots, UGG’s

-no jeans, fancy jeans, dark wash jeans, bejeweled jeans, ugly jeans (especially no ugly jeans)!!!

-no white tees, tall tees, long tees, flannel

This year our location for ASU Winter Gala has been changed to the TFC Stadium – DQ Club Room.

Don’t worry, if you are not familiar with the TCF Stadium, the name will appear above the door.

If you are wondering where the park your car, there are many options available around the stadium. The University has many parking lots that surround the stadium, the two which we recommend are the Maroon and Gopher lot’s. All details on pricing for these lots can be found by click on the pictures of the lots of on the links.

Second Semester is Splendid!!!

Hey all you ASU-er’s……

First off from all of us on board, we’d like to say welcome back and we hope you all had a fun and relaxing winter break. Personally, I thought it was a little too short But we are excited for this semester to start because we have amazing things planned. Lots more High Tea’s with our awesome affiliates, not to mention

 Friday’s High Tea with LSA and DPO

Not only will there be tons of interesting facts about LSA and DPO, there will also be FREE FOOD but if that doesn’t get you then maybe

Waxing our VP- Sathya Kamalanathan’s arms, legs and chest will ;P

Big shout out to DPO for bringing in the most cans for our canned food drive. so that we were able to reach our goal of 300!!!! Making sure our VP is hairless for the second semester.

That is not the only fun event we have this semester, or the only fun High Tea!!

Remember guys, this is a formal event so leave your jeans and sneakers at home. Don your tux’s and most fabulous dresses. Don’t forget to get your nails done and your hair did too ;P  Not only is our theme this year all about the lifestyle of the rich and famous, attendees will be showered with the attention, fame, and paparazzi you all deserve!!! Be prepared to show everyone your most fabulous wardrobe, dance skills and for those lucky…or should I say, talented enough your shiny hard-earned HD Award!

Let me clarify, this year in honor of the Oscar’s ASU will be giving out our own award: The HD Award.

To be selected for award and the prize we are giving with it you will need to submit/upload a video to the Asu Minnesota Facebook Page up to 1 minute in length in the following categories:

-Most Creative Way of Asking a Date to Gala

- Funniest/Most Entertaining Video Skit

- Best Dance Moves

Winners of each category will be announced during the Gala, but all videos can be viewed online, but the winners will not be announced until the night of. Did I mention the winners of each category will be awarded $25 to spend on whatever and whomever they please?!!!!!!!!!!

And you thought the Oscar’s were fancy. This year our theme is all about

If you really want to show ASU some love and get free admission to this once in a lifetime event, sign up to be a volunteer. For those of you who are interested, trust me, this year’s volunteers will be anything but bored. But really, ASU would love some help from its’ members. Rome wasn’t built in a day, but it also wasn’t built by just the senate Let a board member know you are interested or write your name on our whiteboard like such : ( liuliu – gala volunteer).

Even though Halloween has come and gone, ASU has decided that scary movies are still socially acceptable to watch. Please come join us tonight for…

ASU’s FIRST :O EVER- MOVIE NIGHT!!!!!

There will be derricious snacks provided: Kowloon CHICKEN WINGS (om nom nom). Along with bone chilling scary movies. Prepare to get your socks scared off, but don’t worry Peter Quach (aka BATMAN) and WISEMAN will be there to cuddle with you if you get too scared

Hope you all had a blast, because we had a B-L-A-S-T seeing all of you guys there. High Tea with ASU season has begun. Last week we had High Tea with the Korean Student Association (KSA). This coming week (10/17-10/23) don’t forget to stop by all the exciting events going on:

-Thursday 10/20 ASU will be cohosting the Rocksmit Lan Party with Ubisoft. Make sure your guys come check it out because we will be promoting a new game. Like Guitar Hero? or just plain guitar? Well this is your game, ROCKSMITH is a new and awesome hybrid of both. There will be plenty of other games and different game consoles available so come and hang out or…ROCK OUT!!!
